An interest in the Blues is our our common interest, but we are a diversified group with diversified interests.  I'd like this Blog to tackle any subject from Delta Blues to Current Events.

Son House, during an interview, said that real Blues is properly about one subject only; the relationship between a man and a woman.  While I agree that much of the early blues began in that theme, I see the blues not as  fixed in form or subject matter.  It is an evolving form with room for improvisation.

I am particularly found of blues songs which tell a tale.  The walking blues is just one example.  The performer narrates rather than sings a tale over a blues riff.

When I write, I pull my subjects from politics, current events, history - anything I find interesting enough to write a story about.  Similar to poets who might use the sonnet as their framework for their poems, I use the Blues as a framework for my story telling.

Following an interesting conversation, I will often attempt to pen some lines summarizing the crux of the discussion.

If you would like to comment on my thoughts above or introduce a new topic, I'll be happy to join you in conversation.
